Applications are due on Friday, May 22, 2026 by 11:59pm PT.

Scope

The Water Solution Area seeks focused efforts on improving water quality, enhancing water efficiency, and extending water resources for human consumption through combinations of innovative technologies and policies. The Planning Grant Request for Proposals (RFP) is for activities that foster collaborations across faculty and build powerful external partnerships with an aim of developing Integrative Project proposals within nine months.

Teams with a clear idea for a future Integrative Project are invited to submit a Planning Grant proposal for support to further develop the idea and necessary partnerships.

Eligibility

Proposals must be submitted by an individual or interdisciplinary team of PI-eligible Stanford University active faculty. Faculty may not submit more than one proposal in which they are the lead PI.

Award Amount & Duration

Funding available is up to $50,000 for a 9-month Planning Grant.

Between 4 and 6 grants are anticipated during this award cycle.

No-cost extensions will not be available.
